Bio:
Armi is a Malvern-raised city builder working to create opportunities for suburban communities to receive the health and social benefits of walking, biking, and other active modes of transportation. Her pursuit of racial health equity was sparked by her first hand experience navigating the barriers posed by Toronto’s transportation system, particularly in relation to access to employment and leadership development.
Armi sees transportation equity as a tool for leveraging the underestimated potential of Scarborough and other GTHA suburbs. She has previously worked on active transportation projects in the GTHA, Montreal, and Ottawa. In 2018, she founded Transportation Equity Toronto, a volunteer-led initiative devoted to raising awareness on intersectionality and active transportation. More recently, Armi has worked with the School for Social Entrepreneurs, SELECT Deep Dives workshop, and Bike Minds to bring attention to the need for racial equity in active transportation planning.
