Bio: Prof. Maria Assif is Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, and the Coordinator of Critical Writing about Literature in the English Department at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Her areas of teaching and research are composition pedagogy, equity in higher education, and Arab Women's literary productions. Her publications have appeared in tens of journals and anthologies, and she has been on the editorial boards of many journals specialized in higher education and postcolonial studies. For over a decade, Professor Assif has been honoured to call the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus home, and she is delighted to be part of the Scarborough Studies Collective. Her contribution to this exciting initiative lies in highlighting, through conference participation and publications, the innovative work of this Collective as well as the Scarborough writing programs.
