Bio:
Based in Scarborough, born in Saudi Arabia, with roots in South Asia, Noor Khan is a community-engaged artist, art director and producer. In her work, She uses both traditional and digital mediums to commemorate erased pasts, and design ethical futures. Noor's artwork has been exhibited and screened at galleries and festivals both within and outside of Toronto, and continues to be circulated through diverse platforms. In 2018, she was awarded the Juror's Choice Youth Award by Scarborough Arts for her narrative film, EAST: A Relationship , which acts as a personal land acknowledgment. Earlier this year, she received the Music Video Production Project grant through the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to support the recording artist by way of Scarborough and Parkdale, Sean Leon. Noor also works with independent artists from marginalized parts of the city as a producer, researcher, grant-writer, and arts manager — from ideation to realization. She has worked on a number of projects with her friends at the Scarborough Studies Collective, and has contributed her insight on using multimedia as a tool for rendering the word-heavy world of academia more accessible and engaging for the broader Scarborough community.
